Wilmer Aderbert Floréz

Born in Bogotá, Colombia in the year 1987. Master of visual arts from the National University of Colombia. Wilmer makes oil paintings, drawings and collages and his works are mainly figurative. His art practice shows a deep interest for eroticism and the human figure. In his oil paintings he uses a realist style influenced by old masters like Caravaggio and Raphael, the old techniques of grisaille and sfumato are perfect to portray the leather and latex fetish as we can appreciate in paintings like Domina and Mask.

Wilmer wants to show us different and often hidden sides of our sexuality, his objective  is to celebrate and discover the nature of desire, for this purpose he gathers influences from different sources: from Luis Buñuel in film, George Bataille and Sade in literature and the artist Hans Bellmer in drawing. The photography from Araki motivated Wilmer to begin a series around the practice of bondage in which he finds a mixed feeling of beauty and transgression. His works are in private collections around the world ( Germany, United Kingdom, Colombia and China).
